Mr. Boyd

By Erica Perez. The new school year has started, and that means many changes, including the arrival of new staff at McNary.
Many staff positions have been eliminated, and though we are saddened to have seen some of our staff members leave, we are happy to welcome all of the new staff to McNary.
One of our new members this year is Mr. Josh Boyd.
Boyd originally came from McKay High School, but arrived at McNary due to the elimination of staff and the bumping process.
“I like it here. The student’s seem much more mature here. Interacting with the students has been really fun,” Boyd said about his experience so far at McNary.
Boyd is very busy these days with many classes throughout the day. He teaches math labs, algebra, and geometry classes.
But outside of school he dedicates his free time with his family. He likes to play board and video games. Boyd said that his favorite video game would have to be Guitar Hero.
The best part of his job would have to be “Well for me, the opportunity to make a difference in a young adults life, and to encourage them to make good decisions,” Boyd said. This is also one of the reasons that he became a teacher.
Even though he enjoys teaching there is a downside. The least thing that he likes about his job is “It’s physically and mentally draining, and mostly now with the seven day periods,” Boyd said.
As a math teacher he enjoys math and his favorite math subject is “Calculus. I love Calculus.”
Boyd’s most memorable experience was last year, when one of his seniors gave him a bouquet of flowers, in appreciation for everything that he had done for her, it was a nice gift and they seemed like they had been home grown, instead of just being bought in a store. “I wasn’t expecting that, and neither was my wife,” Boyd said about the receiving the gift.
Boyd’s goal as a teacher is to be able to help students through a difficult part of their life and to “teach for 30 years and then retire.”

  1. An fascinating discussion is worth comment. I think that it’s best to write more on this matter, it may not be a taboo topic but generally people are not enough to speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers
